JOE BONANNO, Managing Director
Established Big Picture in 1992
In 1987 Joe worked for Arena Technical Services, developing their Video Touring division, a first for the Australian Events sector. For the next 4 years Joe was actively involved in the supply of touring video facilities for several international acts touring Australia, including the Mick Jagger solo tour of Australia in 1988, probably the first video concert tour supplied by an Australian company. This was to be the first of many local and world-wide tours for Joe over the next 17 years, the highlight of which was to be the Video Director for a world tour for the Black Eyed Peas.
In 1992 ATS divested itself of its Lights, Sound and Video operations and Joe acquired the Video division and co-founded Big Picture Australia with Dennis Murphy. In 2007 Joe acquired full ownership of Big Picture Australia and subsequently expanded the business and the brand into New Zealand.
As Managing Director for over 20 years, Joe has steered Big Picture to become a leading supplier of Video solutions in the region, adopting the world's best practices in the field and developing an excellent reputation internationally.
BRETT HAWKINS, Operations Manager

If you need to know “what’s going on?” at Big Picture, Brett’s the guy with the answers. With a background in film & TV, Brett joined BPA in 2005, training in camera, projection and system engineering. In a short time, Brett’s diverse skill set and unflappable temperament, saw him evolve into the position of Operations Manager.
Covering equipment and logistics, Brett’s knowledge base is diverse, intimate and practical. Across multiple platforms and gigs, he knows where the gear is and why. International or interstate, Brett can get it to you, as ordered, on time and with no fuss.
Most importantly, Brett understands the pressures of production in the field and on the road, and accordingly provides a reliable support network of resources and supplies, ensuring production flows smoothly. Seemly always available, Brett is the first and only call to make when Production decides, “it has to happen NOW!”
Need that extra bit of kit that nobody can source? Brett will know where he can get it... and he probably has it on hold.
NICK BOJDAK, Technical Director

Since 2000, Nick has immersed himself in all technical aspects of Video Production. His natural talent for electronics and engineering has allowed him to amass a work-base of divergent and multi-ranging technologies, not limited to Camera Systems, Vision Switchers, replay units and monitoring systems. His knowledge in these areas crosses manufacturer brands and models.
His keen eye and attention to detail has led Nick to be sourced as a designer, engineer and constructor of complex video systems. From single components to multi-tasking cohesive configurations, Nick is adept at utilising the equipment to its maximum potential with a minimum of fuss. Nick’s experience in Broadcast Television and the Concert Touring markets has seen him take on a variety of roles from Technical Director/Engineer, CCU Operator, Camera Operator and Crew Chief. In his capacity as “master of all things technical”, Nick has been instrumental in the staging of events both domestic and international such as Black Eyed Peas World Tour 07/08,Rihanna World Tour 08/09, World Youth Day 2008, Pearl Jam, Green Day and Coldplay.
NICK HEMINGWAY, Sales Manager

Nick has a Masters Degree in Design Science from the University of Sydney and has been working in the live production field for over 15 years, Nick has been involved in high profile events across Australia and throughout the world. From tours with some of the world’s best known artists, architectural installations on iconic landmarks to major product launches, Nick’s involvement has helped achieve results that make any event memorable. For the last couple of years Nick has moved over into a Sales and Account managing role.

PHIL PIERIDIS, "Fancy Title"

Since completing in 2000 a Bachelor of Honours Degree in Audio Electronics, Phil has been dedicated to the concert touring and events industry. Since the age of 17 he has been surrounded by the industry, starting with an apprenticeship at Vertigo Rigging in London, then moving on to work with world renowned projection and special effects suppliers ETC Audiovisual.
A freelance projectionist and video engineer since 2003, Phil has worked with some of the largest video suppliers in the industry and toured with household names around the world. Not limited to concert touring, a large part of his experience lies in spectacular events, including Olympic opening and closing ceremonies in Athens, Commonwealth Games in Manchester, NYE celebrations in London and Sydney.
Phil’s technical experience revolves around all aspects of visual displays. From multi projection blends, large LED walls through to the most popular media servers, he has a proven track record in ensuring events are completed on time and with great success.
STEPHEN PIPPETT, Client Manager / Senior Video Technician
With over 14 years experience in the Live Entertainment Industry, Stephen has extensive knowledge in all aspects of live entertainment events. He works as a Video Director and Engineer for concert tours and special events such as Elton John, Black Eye Peas, Crusty Demons, Hillsong, Tony Robbins, Rihanna, Prince and many more. He also has extensive experience as a Production Manager of concert tours.
Stephen’s skills as a Project Manager enables him to take events from the client’s concepts, through computer design, and turn them into reality. These abilities have been utilized for concert tours as well as one-off events. He has a broad knowledge base of equipment, and can recommend the most suitable tools for the project.
Consulting on Video Installations is another part of Stephen’s expertise, from assisting the client in designing and installation to recommending the most suitable systems and the implementation of the project hands-on.
Stephen is an international Touring Production Manager for various bands. This has included tours in Europe, Asia, Africa, as well as South and North America. Through these tours he has acquired skills in audio, lighting and backline, as well as booking and organizing crews.
Stephen brings a wealth of experience and is always an asset to your project.
DAVID HORSCROFT, Video Director / System Engineer / Projectionist

David Horscroft joined Big Picture in June 2002, which coincided with his film and television course at North Sydney Tafe.
Since starting with Big Picture over a decade ago, David has accomplished many great achievements and gained a vast knowledge in all aspects of the Television and Video Production industry. From packing a truck to Directing some of the major acts to have come to Australia, David has extensive experience in all applications of the industry, from to timing an old analogue switcher to patching and configuring fully high definition OB systems and more often than not being the leader amongst the crew for any job.

DALE SCOTTING, Warehouse Manager

With over 30 years’ experience in the live events industry, Big Picture was very pleased to secure Dale’s services in 2011 in the role of Warehouse Manager, to meet the demands of the ever-growing inventory and operations of Big Picture. Dale is also part of Big Picture’s Management team.
Prior to joining Big Picture, Dale held touring and management positions in a range of companies and venues, both in Australia and overseas. Venue Management roles including Technical Manager at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre and, later, Operations Manager at the Sydney Entertainment Centre, overseeing several hundred live shows, have provided Dale with a depth of understanding of live show delivery, from supplier to client and venue points of view.
A qualification in Assessment and Workplace Training – and a number of years spent delivering industry training to groups of trainees – has provided Dale with skills essential in training and developing young staff members starting on a career in live events.
Dale and his warehouse team are central to Big Picture’s successful services delivery and as such treat every thing they do as the ‘gig within the gig’.
Dale is still actively engaged in Production Management and Technical Producer roles on large-scale live events for Star Struck and Southern Stars.
SALLY RICE, Office Manager / Production Administrator

When she joined Big Picture, Sally brought with her more than 15 years’ experience in both audio engineering and production as well as celebrity management and administration.
In 1985, she became an audio engineer at Sydney busiest post-production studios then spent more than a decade programming and producing award-winning inflight entertainment for top-end clients such as Qantas, Malaysia Airlines and Virgin Atlantic.
Since joining Big Picture in 2003, Sally is in charge of all day-to-day operations, including quoting, facilities operations, crew casting, client liaison and accounts.
PAUL CARPPE, General Manager

Paul has been involved in the New Zealand video industry since 2002. Originally he trained in the technical aspects of theatre, film and TV production which has given him a vast range of production skills it takes to organise any technical event.
Once filming adventure and travel shows around the country, Paul found his calling in the entertainment arenas working with the biggest and best of the world’s live shows. Working throughout Australia and NZ has given him the contacts to become one of NZ’s most established "go-to" guys for event video production.

DENNIS MURPHY, Senior Video Director
Dennis has over 30 years experience as a multi-skilled video director and production editor as well being a former co-owner of Big Picture.
Dennis' extensive involvement in live events coverage include video direction of the World Masters Games Opening and Closing Ceremonies, The Ben Hur Arena Spectacular, World Youth Day Barangaroo site, Tropfest, Australia Day Celebrations, Sydney Anzac Day Dawn Service.
His concert touring credits include touring video direction of Cold Chisel, Stevie Wonder, John Farnham, Billy Connolly, Green Day, Kylie Minogue, Eric Clapton and The Boy From Oz, and the list goes on.
Dennis' many years of production experience and broad skill set are a great addition to our team and his expertise adds an extra dimension to live event and broadcast coverage.
DAVE HENDY, Video Director / Projection Technician
With over 20 years experience in the entertainment industry, Dave has been active in the evolution of touring video systems.
Indoor, outdoor, stadium rock, corporate, studio, live broadcast, IMAG, conference and awards. Dave has done them all. This is reflected in his talent base which includes multi-camera live direction, celluloid & digital projection, content creation and project development.
His list of credits is extensive, and with a few world tours under his belt, Dave's talents as a live music director sees him constantly working and always evolving.
BOBBI NOLEVSKI, LED / Projection Technician
Completing a Diploma of Audio Engineering at SAE College in 2005, Bobbi embarked on his love of all things technical and worked for various production companies which gave Bobbi the taste of video.
Joining Big Picture in 2008, Bobbi quickly became one of our all-rounders, gaining experience on everything from projection to cameras systems.
With our expansion into large-scale LED, Bobbi has become one of Big Picture’s senior LED Technicians working on all aspects of LED installations and integration for Big Picture’s events.
